THERE'S NO JURY DUTY FOR MONDAY, AUGUST 3, 2015.  PLEASE CHECK THIS MESSAGE AGAIN MONDAY EVENING FOR JURY CALL TUESDAY, AUGUST 4, 2015.  THANK YOU.
 
         Your summons indicates the date your jury service begins and it provides your Juror  telephone ID #. 
 
 Trial jurors report for service onlywhen their Juror ID # is listed in the range of numbers or if it is listed
 
 on the recorded message (845 476-3604 - Option #1).  The message will tell jurors what time and where
 
 to report.  Jurors should check this website or call the evening before they are  summoned to start Jury
 
 Duty and Jurors should call every evening after 5PM during that week.

 

GRAND JURORS are summoned for a 2-3 month term, and will be required to serve two to three days a week.

   

                  Grand Jurors and Town/Village Jurors check your summons for instructions.

General Information
 
 
Absence or Emergency ​   ​If illness or emergency prevents you from reporting, please call our office at 845 476-3600 after 9:00 a.m. on the day you are to report.
 
Accessibility   If you have a disability and need accommodation, call 845 476-3600 or 1-800-662-1220 for relay call.
 
Court Hours   Court normally operates from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a lunch hour and breaks throughout the day.  Court sessions rarely continue beyond 5:00 p.m.
 
Electronics​  ​Cell phones and other electronic devices may be used in the jury assembly rooms and other waiting areas.  They must be turned off during jury selection and trial. There is public access Wi-Fi in the County courthouse.
 
Meals ​​There is a mid-day lunch break every day. 
 
Parking/Transportation The court does not pay for transportation fares, parking fees or parking violations.   Free Parking on site.
 
Security  ​Court Officers are stationed throughout the court.  Members of the public must pass through a magnetometer to enter.  Please arrive early and allow extra time for this process.
 
Court Delays or Closings    Check this website or call (845) 476-3604, select option 1, after 7:30a.m. on the
day you are to report for Jury Duty or listen to local radio stations for any updates.
 
Certificates of Service    Jurors will be given a Certificate of Service as verification of the dates they served.
This certifies your service for your employer, a 4 year exemption from Federal Jury Duty and a 6 year exemption
for State and 2 year exemption for Town/Village service. 3 year exemption for being on call.
 
Excusals or Temporary Exemptions from Jury Service: (submit with summons or questionnaire)
 
      Medical:                     A statement by a licensed physician, psychiatrist or psychologist setting forth  
                                          diagnosis of the mental or physical condition, a prognosis of the length of time
                                          the condition is expected to last and a conclusion that the juror is physically or
                                          mentally not capable of performing jury service.
 
      Age:                            Jurors 70 year of age or older may request to be excused because of their age. 
                                          Please submit in writing....include date of birth.
 
      Caregivers:                 Statement from the applicant that he or she is the primary caregiver and setting
                                          forth circumstances necessitating the caregiving services of the applicant, the
                                          hours that the applicant provides such care. (Temporary Exemption:  2 years)
 
     Financial Hardship:     Jurors who are self employed or are not compensated from their employer while
                                          serving jury duty, must submit a letter verifying their hardship.  Self employed may
                                          submit a business card or letterhead.  Those not compensated must submit letter
                                          stating who they work for and work hours. (Temporary Exemption: 2 years)
 
    College Students:         Submit copy of student ID or transcript. (Temporary Exemption:  2 years)
 
    Non-Citizen:                  Copy of Visa, Green Card, Passport or Permanent Registration Card.
 
    Non-Resident:               Copy of Lease, Utility Bill, Driver's License, etc., with name and new address on it.
 
    Felony:                           Date, Location and Felony Committed.
 
   Inability to                     Verification by someone other than potential juror stating that juror is unable to
   Understand and             serve due to lack of understanding the English Language.
   Communicate in
   English:
 
  Clergy:                             Letter stating that Juror is a Member of the Clergy and this is their sole occupation.
                                         
  Transportation:              Copy of State Issued ID or letter stating that the juror has no transportation to and
                                           from the Courthouse.  (Temporary Exemption:  2 years)
 
  Armed Services:             Letter stating currently serving in the armed forces, discharge date.
 
  Service in Another          Submit Certificate of Service.
